Night 006
As dusk begins to fall, the dancers stop. The man reaches to touch the woman’s face, tender and careful, and kisses her deeply before they head back for the double doors that lead to the Parlor. They vanish before they reach them.
The clock can barely be heard over the sudden eruption of music from the ballroom.
There are those in the house that will feel it now. The sensitive will feel each chime falling on their psyche like a thunderclap, driving them towards the newly open ballroom door. The music is manic and overwhelming, full of promise and expectation.
Akito, Bobby, James, Leon, Luke, Niall, and Raven will find themselves blacking out momentarily, and when they wake will find themselves wearing the same plastic bracelets as the first experiments. These bracelets fit snugly to the wrist and are impossible to cut or remove. Whatever they have been marked for, it will wait for a little longer.
Loki, wherever he may be in the house, will find his fever breaking. The sickness fades, leaving in its wake a steady sense of confidence, a tantalizing hint of rightness and euphoria, and above else, the desire to hunt. Until he is put down, he will be as any other monster in the house, feral and completely uncontrollable. He does not seem to register his victims as anything more than meat.
In the ballroom, other dancers have appeared, spinning in a wild dance across the floor, filling the floor to its capacity. All wear masks and are garishly dressed, fixed smiles on their faces suggesting that they are enjoying the party. Any person who enters the ballroom while the music plays will find themselves being approached to dance, though the figure that approaches them is similarly masked, there is the sense that this person is the person the houseguest wants most to see. They smell like them, their hair looks the same, and those beloved hands feel exactly the same. It is incredibly hard to refuse the offer or to ignore the desire to join them in this dance.
Those who join the dance will find it hard to stop, and harder for every moment they spend locked in the arms of their person. They may very easily dance themselves to death, should they lack the ability to pull themselves free.
Someone taking a close look at the dancers will find that though their expressions seem happy, most, if not all, are injured, bones poke from under exquisite costuming and blood stains otherwise spotless silk. The ravaged frames seem barely able to hold themselves together, and yet still they dance, leaving drops of blood and bloody footprints on the floor. There is an almost tragic beauty to the dancers, as they clutch their partner with ruined arms.
Dotted throughout the ballroom are tables, piled high with food a drink from a variety of different worlds, though much of it does not seem suitable for party food. The tables even seem separated by type, one table taken up entirely by fruit, another by alcoholic beverages, and another by chunks of bloody meat. Each of these tables hold the lost contents of the kitchen, and should anyone be brave enough to brave the dancers and take from a table, no matter how much, that type of food will once more be available in the Kitchen. All attempts must be threaded. Please refer to the map and claim tables.
Welcome, house guests, to the Beggar's Feast.
The musicians dominate the evening; they hold center stage and are aware of the power they hold.
The Unnatural Servants that the house guests have heard preparing all day are now fully visible, holding a collection of stringed instruments. The organ has gained a player, a very small blond child. The child seems entirely focused on the music they are playing, eyes obscured by dark glasses and hands constantly moving over the keys.
The Pianist will not respond to anyone daring enough to approach the players.
Any who happen to look out from the Loft Bedroom will spy strange, bird-like creatures clinging to the far wall. These beings do not move, but they seem to be watching the dancers, occasionally opening their mouths to join the song.
As night falls, other haunts join the house guests in the house.
A woman appears at the top of the basement stairs, holding an unlit lantern in one hand and the hand of a toddling child in the other. The child appears to be around a year old, fingers wrapped around the hand of the woman. His legs are still hesitant, as though he has only recently learned to walk.
In Vivian's arms, her newborn son begins to cry. He will continue crying for as long as the clock chimes.
As the woman walks down the hall, the fireflies that often swarm the house flock to her. By the time she reaches the doors of the Ballroom the lantern will be almost painfully bright and the night will have fully fallen. She and the child walk into the ballroom and take a seat just under the players where they will remain for the rest the night.
Lock wakes the moment before the clock starts chiming, staring around with something close to alarm as the threads binding his mouth unravel. As night falls, he can be found in the Loft Bedroom peering down at the dancers, tucked just out of sight. An observant eye might notice a shadow clinging to the wall above him.
The door to the Doll Bathroom opens once more, allowing a flood of shadows to enter the house, they make passage through the hallway without a light extremely dangerous, as they seem somehow more active tonight than they have been in the past.
The Dark Bedroom is similarly full of Shadows, and is instantly deadly to enter.
The Red Bedroom is on fire.
In the Photography Bedroom the Photographer has once more appeared, paging through the empty photo albums as though looking for something. He does not appear hostile, though he seems equally unwilling to discuss anything with the guests who bother him.
In the Mirror Bedroom the Shadow Man has appeared once more, sitting cross-legged on the floor. The mirrors writhe and ripple as though they are liquid, and entering this room is incredibly dangerous, as you might be pulled under and through the floor.
The Mirror Man has appeared once more, walking out of the shadows of the Doll Bathroom. His cane taps a discordant beat against the floor, out of sync with the music being played. Oddly, those who hear the tap feel less inclined to enter the ballroom, though he is just as lethal as always. He roams the First Floor for the entire night.
The Hell Hounds are out in force tonight, dangerous to everyone they encounter.
To anyone who lacks the ability to feel emotion the Ballroom will appear empty, though they can still hear the sound of the music invading their senses and pulling them in.
Waiting in any stairwell is a woman, her body twisted and broken, a noose still hanging around her neck. She often screams before appearing, and this will serve as the only warning that she is there. She will attack any female or any person with artistic leanings who crosses her path.
The The Needle Woman returns to the Well, just as lethal as she was the night before. Anyone entering the Plain Kitchen will be forced to contend with this woman.
The safe rooms tonight are the Study, The Observatory, The Kitchen, the Dollhouse Room, and The Wallpapered Parlor.
