|| DAY 022: NOON
Noon arrives as the flood water continues to drain. The chimes of the clock still sound waterlogged as they count the hour, struggling to recover from the damage. The Phantasms in the Ballroom move to gather those that have sheltered here during the night, as though following a pre-arranged cue. Though the ghosts and monsters have been passive during the night the movement seems to have instigated panic. The sudden clamour is overwhelmingly loud, though quickly subdued as the Ballroom is emptied. For those left in the house, it is impossible to know where they have been taken. Those marked for experiments will find themselves being gathered at the same time, dragged through the floors alongside the creatures they may have learned to fear. The noise continues beneath the house. The chaos started in the ballroom continues here, echoing back at the newly taken. The groups are sorted, singled out, and each ghost and monster is shoved into an open door. Those that look human are pale and clearly frightened. A few struggle widely to avoid being shut away, clearly desperate to avoid whatever is beyond the door. Fewer still plead for release, begging their captors for mercy. Others only weep as they are pushed into their cells. It is as though they have given up, or know their struggles are useless.
The monsters howl as though their lives are about to end. There is no mercy offered. Each door locks behind the returned occupant. The Phantasms do not react to their terror or their pleas.
The experiment victims will be forced to watch as the messy task is concluded before they are allowed the dubious safety of their own cells. They are left there to wait for their captors to return.
There is nothing around them but white. The sterile brightness seems to consume all thought.
In the house the Unnatural Servants appear, beginning to clean up the damage left behind by the flood. They do not seem interested in communication, but are intent on efficiently completing their task. Someone has started cooking in the Blue Kitchen, and the smell of the fresh food will surely lure any hungry people left in the house.
As soon as the clamour dies down the noise of construction begins, and the house slowly begins to heal -- although there is no sign of the workers who might be responsible. The sound slowly rises to a fever pitch, making it irritatingly difficult to concentrate.
In the First House a very large white dog swims up to the steps, shaking himself to dry his fur. His mouth is open, tongue lolling out and he seems to grin as he makes his way into the house.
He seems to be looking for someone, though anyone will do. Children, creative people, anyone who has had contact with Orion or Lyhn will find themselves greeted by the dog. He approaches slowly with tail wagging, and seems eager to lick fingers and faces if he is allowed. Those who touch him will find that the desire to create or play quickly overtakes them, though it does not seem at all harmful. The four ghosts scattered through the houses do not move, and their blood continues to pool. The Ballroom doors unlock.
