Night 015

|| THREAT DOWN
|| NIGHT 015: GENERAL

The snow has started to fall with renewed intensity, blanketing the gathered, huddled people in the middle of the square. They have been given no leave to gather more winter covering than what they had on them, and seem intent on huddling close for warmth.

|| THE TOWN

As the Guards gather the populace together in the square, a strange thrumming noise fills the air, it very shortly resolves itself into large, dark figures. Many of them land on the walls, parting the fog without issue, wings spread wide.

The reaction to the Dragon flying over the walls is almost instant. The party breaks up, what remains of the Night Market finishing their packing and making to leave with almost supernatural intensity.

They fail, the guards surrounding their small caravan, throwing down the shop keepers and splitting the children from their screaming, desperate parents. The adults are herded together, searched and kept in a makeshift circle in the middle of the town. Their neatly kept carts are knocked over, searched, and whatever is wanted is quickly removed and stripped from the carts.

The guards seem to care very little for the carts and their contents, most of the searching seems to be intent on causing damage.

The crows take flight as the Guards march into town, cawing and screaming and darkening the sky. They are for the large part ignored, but their cries sound oddly human. Luce will find himself completely surrounded by the birds, and the alarmed Tren will be seized by sleeves, dragged towards the Rose Cottage. The birds will even land on the ground, walking in exaggerated steps until both boys obey and enter the house.

One of the birds pecks authoritatively at the trap door, cawing until the boys obey.

The Prisoner who had been lingering outside follows them in, lifting the door and urging the boys into it. Rose seems at first startled, and then oddly resigned, catching the man by the arm and placing Rowan in his arms.

The birds that have worked so hard to guide them here swiftly dive in as well, some landing on the boys and the man. The man quickly pulls the door closed behind them, and then urges both boys through the passage.

Within the passage, the children will find Sil waiting, wearing two sheathed swords; his hood is down and he is wary, waiting a minute before motioning them to follow to a set of hidden rooms with beds, small tables, and some worn stuffed animals.

Rose carefully covers the passage once the children are through, then calmly straps her swords on and steps out of the house to wait. She has dressed herself nicely, and gloved her hands. There is a simple sort of poise to her.

She does not need to wait for very long, as two of the Guards arrive to collect her, she walks between them as though she had only been waiting for her escort and will be taken to the Castle.

Two of the Eyeless Lads will appear for Constance shortly after, escorting the young woman to her fate.

The Cheese Girl remains in her Shop, clearly uneasy and nervous, watching constantly from the window and keeping her young daughter out of sight.

The Butcher is quicker to react than most, grasping Nem by the shoulder at the first sight of the guards and quickly taking her back to the shop he occupies.

|| CASTLE

Within the Castle the guards are quick to seize any of the Servants or to simply outright murder them where they stand. The Grey Maids seem to be a favorite target. Three are beheaded very early in the night outside the Stables. The Executioner seems quite willing to see to any that the guard bring to him tonight.

The Gargoyles roam the halls sporadically and will attack any servants that they catch. Some of the stone creatures circle overhead outside, and the greater number of them are looping over the outer wall, seemingly unable to cross the boundary of the fog.

In the Basement Dorms, nightfall sees one empty bed in dorm 25 and one in dorm 26 with new occupants that appear at a time no one else is in the room. The trunks at the foot of the beds remain empty and dusty, lacking nameplates. The two men wake up dazed shortly after, and will mill about the dorms and the adjacent hallways in confusion, seemingly unaware of any reason for concern.

From the Empty Dorm, another figure emerges. While there is a distinctly human frame, the face is distorted, empty eye sockets leaking a mixture of water and a substance much like thin, black, oily tar. The limbs are twisted, with flesh that seems to have corroded away in places to reveal blackened bone, the arms and legs lengthened; the hands end in long black claws where it's difficult to tell what is flesh and what is a solid form of the blackened substance. The chest and ribcage have a gaping hole that seems burned around the edges, leaking water and more of the "tar". While the creature shambles off-balance through the basement hallways, it moves surprisingly fast on spotting a living being.

|| GARDENS AND YARD

The Gryphons have arrived in the castle proper, their riders perched gracefully on their backs and swinging down to support those guards still on the wall.

A few move to land in the Courtyard outside the castle, three figures stepping down from the shoulders of their mounts and sinking to their knees as the Lord exits the castle. They speak for some time, or are spoken to, though those watching will not hear. Then the Lord makes his way down towards the town. The tallest of the riders stands, motions to the mount, and falls into step just behind the Lord. The bird and the other two mounts with their riders astride return to the sky, landing in the New Stable. This actions results in clear displeasure from the Eyeless Lads clumped around them, though one does not look entirely uncomfortable with the arrangement.

Akari simply falls into step at his master's left. Another lad follows with Zeph on a leash, barefoot despite the snow.

The Gryphon Cubs are huddled against their protector, and the youngest of the pair looks so clearly impacted by the goings on outside that he seems to barely breathe.

The Stable Boy seems to be trying to reassure him, but looks as young and terrified as his charge.

A Bonfire has been built up over the corpses in the muddy courtyard. It spits and snarls, the smoke black and tarry, leaving a disgusting residue in the air. The fire has been left unguarded, but it burns so hot that it is impossible to get near.

Very shortly after Nightfall, Tanny's silver colt will be saddled, and a group of the guards will head out into the dark and the snow with the girl at their head. The gates are tightly guarded during this time, and no one will be able to leave.

The Garden grows more active, with glowing will'o'wisps that seem to be patrolling its paths and turns, hovering just out of reach. servants or any townsfolk that are brought into the garden will find themselves attended by a wisp hovering out of reach that follows them; children gain two of the glowing attendants. The greenery is active, and the gates have vines with long, swordlike spines growing interwoven across the entrances; these vines will quickly retract to allow passage for the servants and those the Garden is accepting, but bar the guards and gargoyles. Along the road, some of the vines have grown over the wall, and writhe actively down it to the ground, lashing out at guards or gargoyles that go near.

Nemesis is going to follow her father and hide there, so unless someone from the guards or such comes looking in there, she'll probably be fine.

Syhrgeim is going to stay hidden in the gardens, because like fuck is she touching this fallout. STILL WORTH IT.

Deniro will be slinking around as a cat, cheating and remaining safe and listening in where he can to see what's going on because this seems Important.

...I'm waiting for more information on Hope but she may be getting in a lot of trouble depending on the information she has by the end of Day.

I'm back, baby!

Byakuran here will be meeting at least one of the people who woke up in the dorms and making his way out safe, then COMPLETELY messing up his attempt to reach other universes and passing out or something. For a while.

Arietta with be hiding in the stable's loft, after witnessing the death of the grey maids. She will only move once things calm down or if she gets too hungry to stay still (she's used to being malnourished, so that's only if this mess continues past midnight).

Richter will get in a close call with the guards but make it back to the cheese girl's house, and spend the night comforting and defending her as needed.

Want to plot with any of them? Comment here!

Mukuro
--is hiding out in the house that Rei built. He won't be emerging personally but you may spot his wolf wandering about or a rainbow dovekeet flying in the air above.

Murtagh
--is now outside the walls and out of reach.

Kaito
--is in the inn with Walter and Kuja, looking after a former Eyelad. He's unlikely to emerge as well unless someone really needs him and can somehow cover him while they move outside.

Luce will be of course where he was placed by the birds. He will be extremely nervous and swinging between fear and wanting to cry. When he isn't swinging back and forth, he will be trying to find out all the bird's names and taking his three plushes and hug on to them like the kid he is.

He probably will not think of using the journal unless a NPC directs him to.

Dist would likely hover around Rose as much as he's able to; she's a zillion times more capable than he is but old protective habits die hard.
