As the day goes on, the thin fog thickens across the ruins, clouds moving in to shade out the sun despite the lack of any apparent wind or breeze. All those in the ruins will find themselves growing swiftly tired, with barely enough time to find a solid place to rest before they fall deep asleep.
They seem to awaken to something that may be very different from their surroundings, trapped in a very real-seeming nightmare that may be theirs or someone else’s. Passage of time is immaterial in the dream realm, and characters may experience multiple variations of their own nightmares and those of multiple others.
Sometimes, in the depths of a nightmare, the sound of rattling chains will become audible. In the distance, a large creature, partially hidden by a haze of darkness, may appear. It will never appear closer, no matter how far you chase it, but is clearly the source of the sounds by the large chains wrapped around and digging into its wrists, ankles, and neck.
This will be especially prevalent if the owner of the dream is nearby.
