Beyond the end of the night

At the end of the Guest's stay in the other houses, they would find themselves falling asleep, only to awaken in the theatre, with "Sil" taking center stage, still in his masquerade costume--although not alone. A large white wolfhound lounges at the back of the stage, studiously ignoring a white rabbit that is smugly grooming, while an adolescent lion that occasionally sheds flicks of orange flame sits proudly between them. The exceptionally perceptive might catch sight of a small glass frog perched on the wolfhound's head.

"Friends and fellow victims of the Lord and the other distortions of this realm, we have gathered you here with the news that we may finally solve one of the worst blights upon this place. Thanks to your actions and interference, we finally have a chance to break the cycle that has helped drag everything else down and prevent any hope of moving forward - to depose the Lord whose endless greed has damned his lands, his people, and spilled over to harm many other beings.

Some of you may know of the young heir-in-hiding; he has finally chosen to accept that birthright, to do something about his father's abuses, and is currently at a safe location outside of the Castle Grounds. If he enters the Castle Keep proper, he can wrest control away from his father - and the last task needed of all of us is to ensure that he makes it inside. We have the aid of an army, rallied by my family and others from the rest of our home world's lands ages ago, contacted by some among your number; they, and any who would volunteer for such, will charge the Castle - an assault that would be doomed to failure so long as Lord Leitner remains in power, but one that will force him to devote much of his energy and focus to fending it off. While anyone able and willing provides a diversion, we will need a small group to slip the young Lord in, through whatever hidden passages or other means you may have, so that he can claim the Castle and begin setting things right.

Once this is accomplished, the Castle's lands - and the rest of this realm - can begin the process of healing, and the doors long kept shut can be opened, allowing all of you passage to and from your worlds or others that you may have invitation to."

From there, the affair becomes a planning meeting - to organize and coordinate efforts, after which everyone will be given some time to prepare before heading into the final confrontation.

That confrontation is the transition to the setting opening; the mod team will be working to update the setting and provide information or answer questions about the setting so that players may act freely within it as we go. This post may be used to comment with or help organize what everyone had been doing for the final confrontation, or to document plotting done elsewhere for posterity.

Once the young lord makes contact with the inside of the Castle Keep, Lord Leitner and his lady crumble to dust. It will take time for the young lord to begin the process of finding and undoing the damages done, but the Castle will become less hostile, with changes occurring slowly. One of the gates blocking passage between the servant dorms and the old tunnels changes, becoming a large wooden door, covered with ornate knotwork that seems to shift and change to include different creatures and symbols from different worlds.

Anyone opening it will find it opening to a view familiar to them, and on stepping through, they find themselves back in their world, usually at the moment they had vanished, although at player option there may be some delay. If more than one person passes through the door, it will send them to the destination they have collectively agreed on.

For the first few days, the options are to pass through to either the origin world of one of the people present, or to Eorzea; after a few days pass, the door can be used to go to anywhere the person has some knowledge of. Posts can be made to the comms set in other worlds, with that noted in the "location" for the post.

In addition, anyone who has been to the "Houses" in the past can re-enter the setting by passing through a door with intent to return; this can also happen accidentally occasionally when passing through doorways, a process controlled by the player. With the doorways less sealed, others may find their ways in who have no prior past with the setting, as well. We do ask that players bringing a new character into the setting let us know so that we can tell which journals to approve to the comms, by whatever means is easiest/available.

Updates made to setting posts will be posted to the main comms, with information on the changes and a link to the new setting post in question. With time, the pathways to the rest of the Houses will open, although they may not be as those who had been here last cycle remember them.

Hope would do whatever she could to actually get in contact with the Keep itself, since she's done that before, to see if it can offer any help at all in sneaking the young lord in. (Making deals if need be, she'll Live With It.) She just would want to help and make her own mark in all of this.

Deniro is going to do his best in the battle to distract, and being a shape-changer really helps. If he knows someone willing to offer their soul as a weapon, especially a resilient soul, he'll take it and beat back as many enemies after a Utena-style weapon draw.

Syhr would be doing things as needed. She can fight, and do what's needed of her.

Nem, if allowed to find the stuff to make bullets, would be sniping from somewhere. If not, she'd be exhausting herself with magic and talking to animals in order to recruit them to the Cause.

Mukuro and Kaito would be conscripted volunteer to be part of the stealth team to smuggle the kid in. Illusions plus diversions is a pretty potent combo. Mukuro also brings some combat skills just in case things go wrong, whilst Kaito is more of a support unit and can throw out some shaky healing songs.

Murtagh would be with Alayne and the army. His dragons would be around roasting things/being nuisances to enemies. Maybe if you're very lucky they can also work magic.

Shougo is likely to be turned and used as a pawn by Sorrow thanks to the blood he ingested and time spent with Akari. I can put up a fight log later for those interested. (He'll later be found in the pub with one hell of a hangover.)
