Day 001 Noon

Noon arrives in the house, announced by the soulful tones of the grandfather clock, unwinding itself enough to remember that it is meant to tell time. Each chime seems to last impossibly long, echoing through the house and under the skin of the houseguests, unnaturally normal in the situation they find themselves in. The last chime brings a new sound to the house, that of children laughing. Pure, untainted laughter, as though they are completely delighted with whatever is afoot. Every door in the house slams open and shut again, and the sensitive characters might notice small footprints in the dust as they rush past. Though the children themselves remain unseen.

When the activity ends, someone has taken a marker to the table in the Parlor. The word “Welcome” has been written large and sloppy on the varnished wood. The dust covers have been ripped off the furniture and piano and left in pools of grungy fabric.

There are seven notes are scattered about the house as the echos fade:

1. Tucked behind the edge of the mirror in the doll bathroom, with the edge just visible. There are rust colored fingerprints all over the dirty paper and the hand writing is nearly illegible. "They're gone. I made sure. Why won't it stop?"

2. This handwriting is nearly childish, hidden in a book in the library. “Are they calling for me? I’m so hungry. They must be calling for me. “

3. “Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, no one is mourning, we’re already dead” The edges of this note are scorched and it is covered in soot, though the hand writing is neat and almost pretty. It’s hidden in the ash bin next to the fireplace in the Dawn Room.

4. “I can still hear them screaming.” The handwriting is elegant, as though someone has been trained to make their handwriting pretty, this note is hidden in a neat stack of papers on the desk in the Study.

5. “I thought the pain would stop.” This note is covered in…something, balled up and tossed down in the corner of the tub.

6. “Where are the children?” Sitting in plain sight under the bottle in the Dollhouse room, though the handwriting seems almost whimsical.

7 . “Is the glass half empty or broken?” Rolled and placed inside a wine glass, the handwriting is jagged and broken.

Each note is written on something that feels almost like fabric, covered in small pinpricks that let tiny bits of light through. Each is numbered.

As the noon hour arrives, the sensitives will have a new problem, something some of the more astute houseguests might notice. The dim dawn light grows brighter, after awhile it becomes not unlike constantly staring into a bright light. It gets progressively colder as the day wanes and there is a constant low level noise, nothing that resolves itself into proper sound, though more than enough to obscure quiet words. There is also something new to be faced with the chime of the clock, a girl Agito would recognize if he could see her. She looms just outside of the field of vision, barely visible in the corner of the eye, watching the sensitives intently. Though anyone trying to get a proper look at her will find her vanishing again. No one aside from the people with enhanced vision or spiritual senses can perceive any of these changes, however.

ooc: If you wish to attempt to speak to the girl, talk to a mod. If you collect one of the notes please comment on this post with which one you found. Please feel free to use this post for plotting and planning purposes, and to coordinate among yourselves or ask questions about the update!

Mello and Rue are going to find the ones in the Doll Bathroom, anyone is welcome to hop in on that thread!

Also, I think it would be a good idea if we had some communication between the characters who are finding different notes going on so we know IC who's got what. And plus, it'd help get everyone more connected / working together as a team / all the jazz. Running into other people while searching for more notes hidden around the house, perhaps?

Is anyone up for plotting that sort of thing?

I already said in chat, but I am 100% up for volunteering Tim to start communicating with people. He's the sort to take initiative, really.

I'd just need to at least confirm which note Tim will have found before he can communicate with others about it, haha.

:D We do need IC communication! This sort of thing should totally happen. Yay plotting?

A+, great idea. I think I mentioned in chat, I was considering having Ricardo put up a "THIS IS OUR SITUATION" note on the entryway doors for newcomers... was considering putting a "if you learn anything not listed here, please add it" note onto the end. Perhaps if we can't coordinate an in-person meeting for everyone that could sort of function as a house-wide plot-related whiteboard?

Awesome! Unfortunately I forgot that Ricardo broke his right arm and is currently incapable of writing this. Does Ed want to walk in on his fail and help him out?

LOL. WAY TO GO RICARDO. No worries, Ed's got this.

oooh! If Ed is still going to be in the bathroom thread, perhaps he and Mello and Rue could explore together for a bit before any splitting up happens, find Ricardo in the Dollhouse Room, and this can be discussed there as well as the notes?

I only just saw this. I was thinking of trying a group log also, but just a general one of her trying to get an idea of who all was there.

If no one starts one, I can easily say that Liz wandered the house trying to gather up people and post a log in the Parlor. Could toss it up soon enough if anyone wants. Others can take charge form there if they want? I donno...

Thoughts?
